Studio lighting can enhance the mood or message of a photograph. In this scenario, I chose to utilize high key and low-key lighting so that I could juxtapose two different characteristics of myself. High key lighting uses many sources of lighting to highlight the subject, with little contrast. On the contrary, low-key lighting only utilizes one source of lighting, to minimize highlight and provide a lot of contrast.

The photograph on the left uses high key lighting to portray how others see me. Usually, people see me as a loud, boisterous person. In this image, the microphone exemplifies my personality because it is a physical representation of my voice. My body language, on the other hand, helps emphasize the side of me which is fun and outgoing.  I feel as if people see me this way because I tend to talk to a lot, and am willing to talk with anyone who I come across. Also, I believe that I always carry a smile on my face so it leads people to believe that I am a joyful human being.

On the other hand, the picture on the right utilizes low-key lighting to demonstrate a part of me that most people do not often see. In this image, I am wearing a blazer to show how I can “get down to business” when I need to. A lot of people do not see this side of me because I have no reason to be serious around my friends. However, for things like school I am willing to take that extra step to succeed.
