Final Picture

A laugh is said to be a time when an individual makes spontaneous sounds and movements of the face and body that are the instinctive expressions of lively amusement. In simpler terms, a laugh is an expression that shows joy. For this prompt, I did not want to simply take a picture of someone laughing. In my opinion, this approach is too literal and does not allow me to further explore laughter. So I chose to ask myself basic questions about this topic, “when do people laugh? why do people laugh? what do people laugh at?” After trying to answer these, I realized they all had something in common; they all link back to the cause of the laughter.
My image portrays this very moment. For some reason, people tend to laugh when other’s get hurt. It is not that they enjoy seeing others in pain, but it is the moment leading up to the fall which adds a comedic effect. So for this picture I chose to capture the moments leading up to the final fall. The body language and facial expressions of the model help captivate the laughter behind the image.
